Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating is increasing in popularity among homebuilders. It's an efficient and effective method for heating a room but it's also a real luxury to feel a warm tile or compatible flooring under your feet.

Radiators work by heating the air around them through convection. Underfloor heating (UFH) meanwhile uses both convection and radiant heat to warm a space. The idea is that this mix creates a consistent temperature in a room that feels more comfortable because it eliminates cold spots. This is improved further by using a decent underfloor heating thermostat with well-planned zones.

Because underfloor heating heats the room from the ground up, it offers improved comfort levels as well as less demand on your boiler than a traditional radiator system. This is due to underfloor heating having a lower operating temperature (around 40°C) than a radiator system, which normally operates at around 65°C.

As mentioned, each room will have its own thermostat and put into zones to enable you to have each room at your desired temperature, with every room also being split up into sub-zones dependant on the size of room. These will all be clearly labelled on the manifold.
